Our Services

Dogtales offers fun & exciting group classes for both beginners, intermediate pups & adult dogs.
Come join us every Saturday morning at the Blue Hills Vet from 08:30 - 11:30.

Each lesson is an hour long and they are part of a full 6 x week course, this also includes a complimentary treat pouch & Hills welcome pack.

The beginner’s course is entry-level training for pups 8 weeks – 20 weeks. We learn all basic obedience exercises including introduction to walking on a leash, basic recall, introduction to impulse control & maintaining your pup’s focus. We also give guidance to many other training requirements such as potty training & bite inhibition. Pups get to socialize through play with other pups of the same age & we also have various activities to help with boosting confidence, coordination & development.

The intermediate course is for pups 6months + of age. Focusing on behaviour and obedience based exercises and agility-inspired games for dogs & owners alike. Working on areas that owners still struggle with in training such as maintaining focus, leash pulling, impulse control & recall. It also promotes more socializing which is highly recommended. Previous social experience would be preferred.

Higher level obedience: A continuation from beginners, working on higher level training based on the dog’s current skillset. Focusing on structured training with the CGC program. Pups that have done the beginner's course will receive 15% discount if they join the higher lever obedience course.

All house calls are charged at R4 per km.

Over the 6 x week program, we will cover basic training for beginners, recall, walking on a leash, good manners, potty training & various other subjects related to dogs. Pups can start as early as 8weeks old - to 20weeks old. All pups must have had their 2nd round of vaccinations as well as be under tick & flea control before joining the class.

At Dogtales puppy school your dogs will learn about socializing & appropriate play with other dogs, different environments, different types of people, sensory development & stimulation & being comfortable in their own body.

We ONLY use positive reinforcement methods & motivation training. (No choke collars or prong collars allowed).

We have new classes each month. Signing up beforehand is essential as spaces can be limited. A maximum of 8 pups per class. We work on a first come first serve basis and we continue with classes even if the weather looks bad. Should a class need to be rescheduled we will notify you.

All puppy classes are a strict 6 x week program. Should any classes be missed, all make up classes are done on Friday afternoons, 15:00 to 17:00. We encourage that children join the classes so that they too are taught how to handle dogs. Just make sure all kids under the age of 12 y/o are accompanied by an adult.

Dogtales also offer private lessons for owners who are unable to attend group classes or for dogs that do not cope well in groups, at the comfort of your own home. We understand that not all dogs are able to socialize and therefore we offer these classes so that they too can be part of the training.

We use certain training techniques according to the dog's specific needs. Positive reinforcement training is encouraged.

Ideal for older pups 6months +
Classes take place Saturday mornings. Maximum of 6 pups per class.

We cover all entry level training for dogs that missed the first phase. This includes proper leash walking, focus exercises, impulse control with food and social interactions, all basic obedience exercises, trick training and all dogs get to socialize with other dogs of similar age. We also give guidance to many other training difficulties such as bite inhibition and jumping up. We also have various games to boost confidence and development. Pups under 12months receive a Hills welcome kit.
